New Face at Magnet

MAGNET would like to welcome a new addition to the Marketing Department, Samantha MacDonald. Samantha started on 2 July 2012 and has been working under the guidance of Marketing Manager, Lyndi Roberts. Magnet Learnerships & Training

MAGNET has increased its company’s activities in government departments and provides opportunities for previously disadvantaged population groups. All staff is given on-site training and participates in Mini-Skills programmes. MAGNET embarked on a learnership programme in May 2002. Nine of Magnet’s employees participated in W&R NQF Level 2. The course was completed in September 2003 and the learners graduated in November 2003. Magnet supports the Winter Warmth Campaign

The East Coast Radio Winter Warmth initiative was well supported by MAGNET staff again this year. A total of 54 blankets were collected. MAGNET would like to thank all staff for their support and we look forward to beating our record next year.

Magnet hosts training seminars in Richards Bay

  MAGNET’S first training seminar in Richards bay took place on 15 June 2012. This seminar was very successful and reported to be of substantial value to all in attendance. Subsequently, another seminar was held on 13 July 2012, and dealt with the “Guidelines for issuing a Certificate of Compliance in terms of OSHACT and SANS 10142-1 (including Amendment 8)”, as presented by MAGNET’S Training Manager, Brian Bilton. Attendees were issued certificates after the course, which represents the contribution made towards the accumulation of CPD points. Magnet looks forward to hosting many more…


SABS have published an Amendment, number 8 to the SANS 10142-1, the National Wiring Code. MAGNET held a training seminar at the Head Office in Durban on Friday 6 July. The training entailed a course detailing the changes that have taken place, as well as the implications to all involved in the electrical industry. The seminar was attended by 11 people, comprising a mixture of engineers and electricians from the industry. It started at 8.30am, and ended with a decadent lunch served at 12pm.
