"Tin Tuesday"

“Tin Tuesday” is an initiative MAGNET conceived last month with the aim of supporting charities in and around Durban. Departments within MAGNET select a charity for their allocated month and, every Tuesday, staff and customers are encouraged to drop off canned food and other non-perishable food items at MAGNET. Furthermore, MAGNET will also be matching whatever has been collected in that month. The pilot month of this “Tin Tuesday” drive has come to an end and we are very pleased with the results. Magnet's 2012 inter-departmental soccer tournament

Friday 17 August proved to be quite an exciting evening as MAGNET’s annual soccer tournament took place. The men of sales, stores and despatch joined forces to form the team “Magnet Sparks”, competing against the opposition “Magnet Bone Collectors” comprising men from the accounts and projects departments. Magnet staff gathered at Curries Fountain Stadium ready for an evening of thrills and spills (more spills than thrills if you ask me!). New Face at Magnet

MAGNET would like to welcome a new addition to the Marketing Department, Samantha MacDonald. Samantha started on 2 July 2012 and has been working under the guidance of Marketing Manager, Lyndi Roberts. Samantha has just completed her BCom (Honours) majoring in Marketing and Business Management. “I have been overwhelmed by the warm welcome I received from MAGNET staff.  From the offset I could tell that my experience here promises to be nothing short of amazing. Magnet Learnerships & Training

MAGNET has increased its company’s activities in government departments and provides opportunities for previously disadvantaged population groups. All staff is given on-site training and participates in Mini-Skills programmes. MAGNET embarked on a learnership programme in May 2002. Nine of Magnet’s employees participated in W&R NQF Level 2. The course was completed in September 2003 and the learners graduated in November 2003. Magnet supports the Winter Warmth Campaign

The East Coast Radio Winter Warmth initiative was well supported by MAGNET staff again this year. A total of 54 blankets were collected. MAGNET would like to thank all staff for their support and we look forward to beating our record next year.
