Unilever: Umhlanga Ridge

Magnet recently an Energy Efficiency project at Unilever, whereby Occupancy Sensors were installed in various areas throughout the UniLever facility in The Ridge Umhlanga, as well as a lighting upgrade. The project included the Administration Building and the multi story car parkade.

The project involved changing LED and 35Watt downlighters to 5Watt LED’s, as well as retrofitting of the current fittings with new control gear and installation of Occupancy Sensors.

The calculated average saving per week will be 50 - 55% and over the weekend the savings will be 65 - 75%. A total savings of 56kW was expected on completion of the project, however this project is exceeding expectations and the savings will be greater then what was previously expected. This project is expected to have a 17 months return on investment.
